1. PHOTOGRAPHS :
The two photographs (Johor-Singapore Causeway & Tanjong Pagar Railway Station) are part of a new series of artworks called An Exile Revisits The City.

The series features a fictional political exile who returns to his homeland (Singapore) after a long absence from it. These photographs act as a travelogue of the exile’s journey around the city and examine the relationship between landscape and history.

The photographs employ German Romantic painter, Caspar David
Friedrich’s Rückenfigur approach to art and features the exile with his back to the viewer in contemplation of the landscape or architecture of modern Singapore.

Through the iconic structures of the Railway Station and the Causeway in these 2 photographs, the viewer is asked to contemplate the relationship between Malaysia and Singapore from the past to the present.

2. TIME CAPSULE : OPEN AFTER REUNIFICATION
Time Capsule: Dibuka Selepas Penyatuan Semula (Open After Reunification) is a catalyst for the viewer to examine the relationship between Malaysia and Singapore. It invites the viewer to imagine a future when Singapore and Malaysia reunite, and to question what should be included/excluded in the process of separation/reunification of these two countries.
