From his vantage point, the traveller observes accidental violations over territorial boundaries. These boundary lines are in constant flux following or during a territorial dispute. Wanderer above the Sea of Fogis a series of postage stamps that designates spaces and territorial waters to a nation during a conflict. The collection of stamps is memorabilia of real and imagined situations.
Wanderer above the Sea of Fog #1 and #2: Pedra Branca; Middle Rock; South Ledgedepicts these 3 rock formations under dispute. During high and low tide, where some may not be seen in the former, civilian activity takes place under the surveillance of the Republic of Singapore Navy.
Wanderer above the Sea of Fog #3: Point 20depicts Tuas at 23 months where it has been reclaimed to above sea level. Pending results of the Pedra Branca; Middle Rocks; South Ledge dispute brought before the ICJ, Malaysia claimed that the reclamation works of Tuas island encroached into its territorial waters called "Point 20 sliver". |
