Intersection Vietnam: New Works from North & South, Valentine Willie Fine Art’s first foray into the world of Vietnamese contemporary, is to present the complex and interconnected realities of today’s Vietnam through the art of emerging talent as well as more established practitioners. This exhibition includes seven internationally exhibited artists at various stages of their career who through different media and formal strategies, all narrate Vietnam.

The initial idea was premised on interest of getting artists to produce their own cartographical interpretation of the region, using the map as a diving board to explore our shared regional history, culture and memory.

Vasan Sitthiket: Vasan's Women
 

Valentine Willie Fine Art is delighted to present Vasan Sitthiket’s second solo collaboration with Valentine Willie Fine Art entitled ‘Vasan’s Women’. Women in various guises occupy a special place in Vasan Sitthiket’s oeuvre. Pictured alternately as either passive objects or active and powerful players shaping their own destiny, Vasan’s women are variously depicted as purveyors of sexual temptation, victims of the sex trade, complacent subjects of consumer-targeting propaganda, maternal givers of life, and metaphorical icons assimilated with mother-earth-mother-Thailand. Often viewed with tenderness and admiration by the artist, whether portrayed as young or old, whether shown as agents for good or evil, Vasan’s take on the opposite sex is personal and heart-felt rather than generic.

Valentine Willie Fine Art is delighted to present Bambang Toko's first solo exhibition in Kuala Lumpur entitled, 'Titian Muhibah: Serumpun, Senada, Seirama'. In this new series of work, Bambang delves back into our recent history to look at a subject that has fascinated him as an artist, the Malay-Indonesian Retro Rock. As a collector of vintage pop memorabilia Bambang's interest extends to explore the ethos and spirit that bind the past generation of musicians between Malaysia and Indonesia - a historical connection that is rarely explored.
